Your Online Image #1
You've discussed in your Keynote presentations about how important it is for you to be very careful when you're online.
- be careful with your personal information
- be careful about what you say about others
- be careful about language, images, etc
- be careful about secrets, embarrassing or other personal info about others
Things that you post on line can also be damaging to your reputation - now, or in the future.
We're going to handle the blog differently the next couple of weeks. You will be presented with different scenarios, that involve online social networking. Respond to the question(s) asked. Give your answer some thought.
First Scenario:
You are finally old enough to join a social networking site and set up your own profile. You spend a lot of time making the profile look cool and you have links to many friends. Your mom makes her own profile and asks you to be her “friend.” Is that fair? Explain your thinking.
Yes they want to see what your doing and making sure your not doing anything bad and trying to keep you safe
ReplyDeleteI think that is what they are trying to do to Jonny.
Deletetrys to keep you safe lol,
Deleteyes Jonny i agree.

DeleteThat is true but what if you dont want them to see what you are doing.
DeleteI would accept my mom's friend request. I would accept it because I have nothing on my Facebook that I wouldn't want my mom to see. I can see how some people wouldn't accept it because, it's your mom.
ReplyDeleteYeah they might to bad stuff they don't want there parents to see.
DeleteYea they are hideing stuff for them

ReplyDeleteI think that it is fair because your mom just wants to make sure that you are posting the right stuff on social media.
ReplyDeleteI agree, you shouldn't post something you wouldn't want her to see.
DeleteI think so to, anything you post should be able to be seen by your parents.
DeleteI think it is to if its bad you shouldn't post it then
DeleteI wouldnt want my mom as a friend because i talk to her enough, and i dont need her looking through my facebook.
ReplyDeleteI talk to my mom a lot too. I don't have anything to hide from her.
DeleteI feel the same way, we see our mom most of the time and we don't need them looking through our stuff.
DeleteI think that is fair for your mom to add you, because you shouldn't post anything that you would't want your mom to see in the first place.
ReplyDeleteYes they just want to make sure that your posting the right things on social media
DeleteAnd if you do have stuff on your Facebook that you wouldn't want her to see then you need to reevaluate your life choices.
DeleteMake sure you post things that people want to see like when you go on a trip or something not inappropriate pictures.
DeleteI think it's fair for you to add your mom on Facebook. If you have stuff on there that you don't want your mom to see, then don't post it in the first place. A lot of people don't even post stuff Facebook so it shouldn't matter if your mom is your friend or not. Plus if you add her then she'll feel more confident with you having one.
ReplyDeleteYeah I agree if it is something your mom shouldn't see then you probably shouldn't of posted it.
DeleteYeah parents can be a little bit over protective on social media but they are just trying to do the right thing.
DeleteI agree you shouldn't be posting inappropriate pictures or posts, your friends see it, so if your friends with your mom she will see it too so don't post anything stupid in the first place.
DeleteYes you are right
DeleteNo because this is your thing and to have your parents as your friends is kinda an invasion of privacy but when you do post a picture and they cant do anything about it whether they like it or not.
ReplyDeleteIt's not an invasion of your privacy because all your other friends see it so why can't your mom?
DeleteI agree with Grace, everybody else sees what you post, who cares if your mom sees.
DeleteBut your mom is trying to keep you safe and you shouldn't post anything she can't see in the first place.
Delete"Invasion of Privacy"... well, If you are putting it out online, Is there really all that much Privacy to begin with? I get it if you just want to share with your friends, but like what we did with the keynote, all of your information is not always safe, no matter what you do.
DeleteI see that you probably don't want your mom or dad in the loop of your social life, nor do I, but they probably just want to keep tabs on you so don't get in trouble or hurt.
The internet is a big place, filled with millions of people, and not all of them are friendly.
i don't add my mom on facebook mostly because i don't what to see her selfies with her 80 year old boyfriend
ReplyDeleteYa thats another reason for me, ugly bucky.
DeleteYeah i feel yeah Rylee. He's pretty old.
DeleteThat's actually really rude. If you don't want to see it, there is probably an option blocking links to those images. And if there isn't and you really don't want to see them, don't go to her page. (basically, if you don't want to see it, don't look)
DeleteIts not rude its a opinon everyone has there own i feel the same way about my parents
Deleteall her photos she would post would show on my newsfeed lol
DeleteThat's a good point, most people wouldn't want to see that either.
DeleteI wouldn't want to see that stuff either.
DeleteI honestly wouldn't care if my mom didn't that. I'm not dumb like half of the other kids this town and I don't post pictures of me drinking and smoking weed.
ReplyDeleteYeah lol thats dumb
DeleteI personally do not have a FaceBook Account, so I have never come across this scenario for myself. What I would do in the scenario, if I actually came across it, Why not let her be your friend? It's not like she's going to be talking to all of your friends and messing with your life outside of it. Your mom probably just wants to keep an eye on you, like a good parent. So what if they post a few pics? What is the worst that can happen? (There is always the delete option)
ReplyDeleteSome teenagers/kids want privacy on their accounts so to have their parents on it its kinda invading their privacy.
DeleteIf it was me I would accept it because they just want to make sure your aren't giving out your personal information and to make sure you are being safe online. Some people think it doesn't matter if you put out your personal information but it does because if you give out just enough info about yourself somebody could steal your identity. It is fair, just accept it, she will make sure your being safe, and seeing who your friends are just to make sure you aren't friends with random people.
ReplyDeleteI agree to accept it because she helps keep you safe
DeleteYeah I agree, they just want to protect you.
DeleteI agree they are probably just trying to make sure that you aren't putting out your personal imformation.
Deletewell i don't have the problem of my mom trying to add me. Because my mom dosn't even know what facebook is or anything else she barely knows how to use a laptop. I don't even post any thing bad anyway.
ReplyDeleteI think it is fair because then they know what you're doing on the Internet, they are just trying to keep you safe to make sure you aren't giving out any personal information.
ReplyDeleteI agree they just want us to be safe.
DeleteYeah true, plus you shouldn't post anything that you wouldn't want your mom want to see.
Deleteit would be fair because they will make sure everyone is safe.
ReplyDeleteI think that it would be fair because you should not be posting anything that your mom shouldn't see. You have to be responsible with what you post also and if your mom is friends with you she might be able to tell you if you do post something you should not. I am friends with my mom on facebook and I have no problems with it.
ReplyDeleteI think it's fair because you shouldn't be posting anything that your mom shouldn't see. You have to be responsible with what you post also and if your mom is friends with you she might be able to tell you if you do post something you shouldn't. I'm friends with my mom on facebook and I have no problems with it. Just don't do anything you normally wouldn't.
ReplyDeleteI agree you shouldn't post something if you don't want anyone to see it.
DeleteI think that your mom should be able to look at what you post because you shouldn't be posting anything that you wouldn't want them to see anyways.
ReplyDeletei think in a way this is correct but the internet is a place for everyone to be able to do what they want with the law anyway
