The Making of a Vine Celebrity

The Making of a Vine Celebrity

There has NEVER been a time in the history of the planet when people had the ability to become instant "celebrities" as you can today. Think about it: Philip DeFranco, Rhett and Link, Justin Bieber - a person can be "discovered" instantly, just by posting a video - even a SIX SECOND video.

Read this article about a current Vine "celebrity", named Jerome Jarre. Take a look at the videos that are linked in the article also:

Jerome Jarre: The Making of a Vine Celebrity

Not only has this guy become famous in an instant, it looks like he's not just a "flash in the pan" because is seems as though he understands how to use social media apps to promote himself and other things around him.

Had you heard of Jerome before reading the article? What do you think of what he's doing on Vine?  What do you think about this kind of opportunity with mobile apps? Can anybody do it? Will such fame last, and is it something that can be made into a legitimate business?

    1. I agree I don't think that it will last because not many people use vine anymore.

    2. If he actually made and sold products or got on more than one social media site and joined up with people then it could maybe last.

  2. It's cool how he a promotes him self on social media to make his other social media page more popular.

    1. Yeah, it's weird how many people know him or know of him just from making 7 second videos on an app.

    2. I think its pretty cool too. But he will probably die down soon

  3. No I have never heard of Jerome before, but I believe at first he was just doing it for fun. Not everybody can make a simple video and become famous. I don't think it will last because vine isn't that popular anymore, maybe for him but not for others. You could make a business out of it if you had like a brand or logo and sold merchandise.

    1. Yeah exactly, Vine is hardly used anymore, and the second people completely stop using it is the second his fame leaves.

    2. I agree not everybody can be famous just by making a video, it has to have a good meaning to it other wise it won't get popular. Vine started out very popular but most people don't use it anymore because it is only a 6 second video.

    3. yeah no one really goes on vine

    4. I agree, nobody uses vine anymore because they're are coming out with newer and better things for people to use.

    6. I'm no social media buff, but I don't think Vine is as unpopular as most of you seem to believe. Remember, this is a world-wide thing, just because it isn't really popular in america, doesn't mean it's going to be gone soon.
Also, remember that video that went viral on youtube? There's so many of them, that a different one comes to mind to each person. And think about it, if a video can go viral on one site, then why not another? How many people have gotten famous from these viral videos. To name a few; Justin Bieber, Pewdiepie, Charlie 'bit my finger', Shane Dawson, Tobuscus, Smosh. There so many people out there who went viral, that you really can't name them all. So seeing someone else climbing the ladder of fame in Vine is not so surprising as it is 'Will it last?'

  4. I've heard of him before from Snapchat. I think what he's doing is great, making people feel good about themselves. Anyone who is willing to put the time and effort into doing it could though, but I don't think you can make a business from just being popular online.

    1. I think it's great also but I don't think just anybody could do what he did.

    2. I think it's good also but I think he just got really really lucky where he got this much fame from a mobile app.

    5. I agree, making a few videos won't make you popular and I don't think you could make a business and start a career by making videos online.

    6. I agree, making people laugh almost everyday can make a big impact on some people. He cant become famous by one video its almost impossible.

  5. Yes I've heard about him before on Twitter and other social media platforms. I think it's kind of dumb what he's doing on vine but whatever gets him money will work I guess. Yes anybody could get famous like him but it's highly unlikely. I don't think the fame will last and if it pays it pays.

    3. Not many peole use Vine anymore so it won't last as long as he thinks it will.

  6. I haven't heard about him until now. He is trying to get his messages out saying that everybody is good enough the way they are. The opportunity is very big for him, I think anybody can do it they just have to be positive and inspire others. I think the fame will last because he showed others that even if he doesn't know them that others care about them and everybody has something special about them. I don't think this could be made out of a bussines because it was something popular online.

  7. I've never really heard of him until today when we talked about him, but I think he's trying to inspire people with everything he's doing on vine. I don't think it'll last that long, soon these people will grow up and nobody will remember them. I would imagine if they got paid to do this they'd keep doing these vines on the Internet.

  8. I haven't heard of him before, but he's making a big impact on some peoples life. He is just trying to make some peoples days better by his videos. I don't l think is fame will last long because people really don't use vine anymore. Maybe if they got paid to make videos they would make a lot more.

  10. I have heard of him before. I knew that he would go and give people hugs but I had no clue that he had made a business out of it. Personally I think that it's a good idea, but I dont think that a business like that is really legitimate business, and it probably wont last.

  11. I have heard of him before. I don't think that he will stay famous for long because vine is slowly getting less popular. He should have a plan to fall back on just incase his vines aren't popular anymore.

  14. I have never heard of him before this article, I think it is going to be 15 mins of fame, people will forget about him pretty fast. However I do think it takes a lot to work to get where he is, he needs to know how to draw people in and make videos that are funny that people will want to watch..

    1. As much as it would be nice to have someone be famous for making other's smile, his fame most likely won't last.

  15. Ive never heard of him before. I don't think that he'll be famous for very long cause people get bored of watching the same guy on vine over and over again. I know I do at least.

  16. I haven't heard of Jerome until now, but from what I've read in just that article, he's not a bad guy. He seems like the guy who would give up his seat on the bus for the elderly woman, if you know what I mean.
The quote, "My purpose is to help them find theirs," is really inspirational. After learning about this guy's past, he certainly knows what it feels like to get the short end of the stick, and now, he wants to help those who know that feeling too.
Vine. I don't use it, nor know much about it. I'm not a snapchat, instagram, Facebook, twitter, tumblr, or any other type of social media enthusiast. I'm in no place to say that getting famous off of social media is good or bad. In this day and age, we are more connected worldwide than ever. There are more outlets for people to express themselves and talents are discovered that we would otherwise never know about. In Jerome's case, he's using this connection to help people, even if it is only through funny six-second videos.
Anyone can be discovered at anytime, but only the truly good ones will have the fame last. Hopefully, Jerome can find a way for this fame to last, because I believe what he is doing is bringing smiles to people's faces and that makes this world the tiniest bit better.
